PRO-HERITAGE

How can the big issues of climate action reach the tools in the hands of craftworkers responsible for the care and maintenance of our cultural heritage? How can we apply the principles of the UN Sustainable Development Goals when repairing a window or roof? PRO-Heritage is a 3-year Horizon 2020 European project in which Cultura is working with partners in Austria, Portugal, Spain and Slovakia, as well as English Heritage, to guide practical application in the selection of materials and sustainable methods of repairing and maintaining historic buildings and cultural heritage sites. The project provides structured modular training for professionals, traditional skills craftspeople and apprentices to promote skills exchange. Cultura is producing training films at its projects that will form part of courses prepared by the project partners, leading to European accreditation that will help workers apply their trades internationally.
